This past week, my wife’s Grandmother passed away. We happened to be up in the DFW area and things worked out so that I stayed with the children, and Jess went up to OK City for the funeral.
The whole thing got me to thinking about the cycle of life. I mean we see it more and more as we get older - I say we see it, what I really mean is we notice it. I guess I really had to start noticing it when my mom died when I was 15. Kinda hard not to, at that point; but it just goes to show you, we don’t have a lot of time here, and so we should maximize our time to the best of our abilities.
The Kenny Chesney Song Don’t Blink really hits home for me in this matter:
Don’t blink
Just like that you’re six years old and you take a nap and you
Wake up and you’re twenty-five and your high school sweetheart becomes your wifeDon’t blink
You just might miss your babies growing like mine did
Turning into moms and dads, next thing you know your “better half”
Of fifty years is there in bed
And you’re praying God takes you insteadTrust me friend, a hundred years goes faster than you think
So don’t blink
